Coach Certification Program
An In-depth Training that is both Profound and Practical
The Enneagram illuminates and embraces the full range of Light and Shadow of the nine rich dimensions of human consciousness. We have discovered no other body of knowledge that provides such rich connections to everything that is experienced in the human field, and which offers specific pathways to growth, transformation and awakening.
Our underlying philosophy rests on an Essence-based approach to the Enneagram, and focuses on the client’s direct experience to develop his or her own knowing as a path of growth. We emphasize:
- Body intelligence grounded in somatic awareness and supported by a practice of presence;
- Heart intelligence that includes and extends beyond emotional intelligence to allow for increased contact with the client’s deeper truth;
- The extensive and applicable base of knowledge through the Enneagram– for recognizing the specific dynamics that exist within the range of the human condition
- An orientation of curiosity and compassion to all our work;
- A deep and abiding connection with oneself as a coach to create ease and space for client transformation
Fundamental elements of the ten month program
As specialists in human development and transformation, we recognize that it is we as coaches that must engage in our personal work if we hope to create opportunities for our clients to experience real openings and sustainable shifts. Thus, we dive in both personally and professionally to:
Understand, deepen contact with, and embrace Self as coach.
Understand and recognize the genesis of personality dynamics and how those lead to human ‘stuckness.’
Approach the change process with qualities of depth, healing compassion, paradox and mystery that lead to sustainable and real changes in client freedom, fulfillment and effectiveness.
Recognize the multiple and dynamic dimensions of “the coaching field” that impact your clients’ success.
Use direct experience/presence-based models that are grounded in the Deep Coaching philosophy.
Embrace presence-based tools that assist clients in taking action from a direct experience that is aligned with their freer and truer nature.
Our teaching faculty are comprised of seasoned professionals who are a combination of practitioners and thought leaders in the field. We practice, write, and teach in this and related fields. At the same time, we recognize that ‘everyone in the room’ brings important teachings. We are all teachers and learners in this community.
The early stages of this program were based on the book, Deep Coaching: Using the Enneagram as a Catalyst for Profound Change, by Roxanne Howe-Murphy, Ed.D. Roxanne’s newest book, Deep Living, and new writings and developments by other faculty members contribute deepening levels of understanding and coaching integration to the curriculum.
Student Requirements
We carefully screen our applicants so that you are in the company of a select, experienced group of practitioners. Consultants, coaches, and professionals in the fields of health, OD, psychology and healing are participants in this program.
In this training program, we expect that students will fulfill course and certification requirements at a professional level in order to be qualified for Deep Coaching Certification. Students will receive feedback throughout the curriculum, and through the fieldwork supervision program. If, after the ten-month program, we should feel that you are not ready for certification, we will recommend additional steps you can take to complete your certification.
Additional reading will be required. A list of required and recommended books will be provided to certification students.
In addition, students are required to engage in a minimum of six individual coaching sessions from a list of certified Deep Coaching practitioners. We feel it is important that you gain the experience of being a client in presence-based coaching in order to support both your personal and professional development. While you may select the timing of your coaching experience, we would recommend that you begin in the early part of the program. You will pay your coach independently of the tuition, and most coaches will offer a reduced coaching fee for students in this program.
Real transformation is based upon starting where one is, and supported through being witness to ourselves and others, remembering, consistent practice over time, knowledge of possibilities, learning more skillful ways of meeting challenges, and being engaged in and supported by a community of individuals committed to personal awakening and healing on personal and global levels. Whether meeting live or by phone, this is our work at the Deep Coaching Institute.
And here we honor and Celebrate the Great Mystery that is so accessible when the predictable limitations of the ‘stuck’ personality relax and dissolve.
