Bio

Good Day to You. I am one of the internationally-based Deep Coaching practitioners. Whilst Zoom allows us all to work remotely, I actually live and work mostly in the UK, just outside London. I would like to share a little of my journey to help you understand why I do what I love to do.

In June, 2004, life as I knew it came to a grinding halt following many years of emotional turmoil and a life blighted by early abuse and addiction. I found myself confused, frightened and lonely. Lost and believing there was no good reason to carry on, I found it incredibly hard to ask for help. I believe the only reason I did was to finally address many haunting questions which needed answers. And so began my journey of recovery from sex addiction, from the most emotionally painful year of my adult life and from the shame of child abuse that had plagued my life for over 30 years.

Almost 2 decades later and having answered many painful questions, I have chosen to dedicate my life to helping others find a way back from their emotional abyss and the brutal cycle of addiction, to find the inner peace I have worked hard to discover. I found sustainable peace and happiness through turning to others, finding the courage to take a risk with my heart and by choosing to do things differently. Today, my life and work are about listening to others and guiding clients through the scary process of change, to shrug off years of conflicting behaviour and to lead a life free of craving and addiction.

My role in the field of addiction is one of ‘Recovery Coach’. My own experiences help foster empathy and trust for reassurance in the early stages of coaching and mentoring around sensitive subjects. I coach from the perspective of having ‘been there and done it’. My deep understanding of sex addiction and the addictive cycle as a whole gives me an ability to understand buried pain, anger, fear and shame and the disruption they bring to every aspect of our daily existence. An understanding of long-practiced emotional defence mechanisms empowers us to better integrate all areas of our lives. My job is to help people explore how they interact with the world around them and to guide them to healthier exploits that better compliment their true self as they release themselves from compulsive addictive behaviours. And the key to all of this is not the ‘what’ that you have been doing, but ‘why’ you have been doing it!

I coach using a variety of recovery techniques to help clients apply emotional tools in a realistic and sustainable manner. I help people get out of their heads and more in touch with their hearts and bodies, to become more somatically aware. If necessary, I help people to higher levels of care if that is what they need. As well as individuals, I also work with groups of people and present workshops on vulnerability, shame and other addiction and trauma-related topics. My goal is to help clients find a way back to their true essence, to embrace parts of themselves they may have ignored for many years and to rekindle the flames of their original, untarnished and unconditionally accepted ‘self’. I see what I do as, ‘Self’ Recovery Coaching.

I never shared any of the pain of abuse in my early life and instead, all I found was a lonely emotional wilderness. Muddling through does not bring peace. I coach to help people bridge the gap between treatment centres and life. I coach to help clients find clarity in their addictive haze and to structure their future from a place of peace. And I coach to help people recover their true selves, to live in the emotional peace they so deserve.

Thank you for reading about me and I hope to meet you soon – Mark
