Object Relations and the Enneagram
OBJECT RELATIONS AND THE ENNEAGRAM:
DEEPENING OUR UNDERSTANDING OF CLIENTS AND OUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM
Within the Enneagram teaching is the understanding of primary relationship patterns known as Object Relations. They begin when the personality is just forming and are being imprinted before we really understand that other people are not just Objects in our own tiny universe. They are projected onto other people throughout our lives, causing us to replay old patterns over and over until we become conscious of them.
In the coaching relationship, often the Object Relations pattern gets played out between the coach and the client. Awareness of potential patterns related to Enneagram type can help identify this unconscious dynamic and bring it to awareness, hopefully to free the client from the projection onto the coach and onto others.
DCI is very excited to offer two Special Topic courses on Object Relations and The Enneagram (Object Relations Part One and Object Relations Part Two). Details on each course are available by clicking the flyer icons below. Register by clicking the “Register Here” link:

Enneagram Basics – A Look into the Anatomy of Personality
As Roxanne Howe-Murphy describes, “The Enneagram identifies nine dramatically different personality types (Type One through Type Nine) and helps us understand these nine types by describing specific patterns of thought, emotion, attention, and behavior and the motivations (e.g. fears, desire, beliefs, inner sense of self, etc.) underlying these patterns for each type. A significant benefit of using the Enneagram is that, through shining the light of awareness on type-specific patterns, the user gains clarity on what his or her automatic patterns are, and can become more attuned to how those patterns impact the quality of his or her own life, as well as the impact that one has on others.”
In the coaching relationship this awareness is invaluable. In living ones daily life it is indispensable.
DCI is very excited to offer two Special Topic courses as introductions to the Enneagram (The Enneagram as a Powerful Tool for understanding Human Behavior and Predicting Patterns of Behavior Using the Enneagram).
